Green Initiatives

Creating and supporting local initiatives that promote sustainability, conservation, and forward-thinking environmental best practices are vital components in enhancing quality of life and planning for the future.

Gold Leaf Pilot Program

At the January 17, 2023, City Council meeting, City leaders approved a resolution to take part in the Gold Leaf Pilot Program, through the GreenStep Cities organization. This voluntary program includes 11 other Minnesota cities, each committed to implementing at least two of the 44 high-priority climate-specific actions during the program's 9-month duration.

Vadnais Heights committed to the following initiatives:

• Green Team

  Have a green team with city and community member representation that meets regularly (at least 4 times every year) and address topics related to Minnesota’s changing climate. Click here to learn more and get signed up to be part of Vadnais Heights' Green Team!

• Community Restoration

  Host one or more events that engage community members in annual restoration or cleanup of public natural
  areas.

While the Gold Leaf Pilot Program ends in September, it is the City's hope that these initiatives are just the tip of the iceberg in Vadnais Heights' sustainability journey.
